Functional safety as primary goal

The IMI Buschjost 4/2-way hydraulic valve manifolds 83165 and 83185 were tested on compliance with the EN ISO 13849-1:2008 standard and can be used in applications up to PL d Performance Level.

Bad Oeynhausen. For decades, IMI Precision Engineering, a leading international supplier in drive and fluid technology, has supplied the market with high-quality IMI Buschjost hydraulic valve manifolds. They are used primarily in presses and must meet high safety requirements. For this reason, the 4/2-way hydraulic valve manifolds 83165 and 83185 were recently checked by TÜV Rheinland for compliance with the EN ISO 13849-1:2008 standard. The result: reliable compliance with the safety function "Move into basic position at every taking back of supply pressure" has been confirmed. Extensive tests prove that IMI Buschjost's hydraulic valve manifolds can be used in applications up to the PL d Performance Level.

In Europe, essential health and safety requirements for machinery, as well as for their safety-related parts, are defined by the EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. It requires manufacturers to conduct a risk analysis to uncover all hazards and risks related to a machine. By determining the performance level of IMI Buschjost's hydraulic valve manifolds 83165 and 83185, IMI Precision Engineering allows its customers to calculate the overall performance level of their investments.

The IMI Buschjost 4/2-way hydraulic valve manifolds are mainly used in mobile and pendulum plate presses and have been proven many times in practice. In extensive testing, the reliability of the safety function "Move into basic position at every taking back of supply pressure" has now been verified and confirmed: even under critical conditions, both manifolds control the parts of a press to be compressed at the beginning of each cycle, starting backwards. Thus they meet the requirements defined by the test specifications.
