Buschjost intensifies its efforts in training and education:
The optimum start to working life
At the start of this new training year, eight new apprentices and two sandwich course students are beginning
their future careers at Buschjost Norgren GmbH + Co. KG: two business management assistants, three machinists,
a technical draughtsperson, an industrial mechanic and a toolmaker. This brings the number of the company's
current apprentices up to 23. And with a particular goal in mind of course: “We recruit our future supervisors
and managers from our apprentices,” Managing Director Michael Preinerstorfer explained. “It is important that
we train and educate our employees well in order to have excellently qualified staff who can provide our
customers with a first-class service in all areas.”
On their first day, the new Buschjost staff members were welcomed by both Managing Directors Michael
Preinerstorfer and Oliver Wehking as well as Personnel Manager Lutz Missbach. After sharing a breakfast
with the “old” apprentices, they found out for themselves more about the company with a short quiz. Here
they had to solve questions like “What is the certificate that Buschjost holds for power stations?” or perform
tasks like “Find out from the Purchasing Section the current price per tonne for brass”. “We decided to
offer the apprentices an even better induction this year. They would not be just overloaded with presentations
and information nor simply left to start their work. We wanted them to play a more active role and learn by
experience about their new working environment. And from the responses so far, we have been very successful,”
Lutz Missbach concluded.
In the coming weeks the apprentices and their mentors will spend two induction days in a youth hostel
at Lake Steinhuder. “The activities and time spent together by and on the water will allow them to get to
know one another even better and align their expectations and our requirements. We wish to enthuse the
apprentices right from the start with the passion for valve technology that our employees show in their
everyday work here at Buschjost,” Lutz Missbach explained.
And there is something else new at Buschjost: in addition to cooperating with all types of educational
establishments, beginning in January 2009 two young students will undertake the practical experience phase
of their sandwich courses with the company. Both students have been studying business administration at the
FHDW Bielefeld/Paderborn. A further candidate is also being sought after by Buschjost for the sandwich
course Production Technology in cooperation with the FH Lippe/Lemgo. Lutz Missbach would be pleased to
receive applications for this position.
