HR development at grass-roots level
Lutz Missbach
New brooms sweep clean, goes the saying – but Lutz Missbach, who joined Buschjost as Human
Resources Manager at the beginning of the year, has no plans to introduce any major changes in the
near future. "I have found a well-prepared field here", reports 48-year-old Missbach. "Buschjost is a very
successful and well-established company which enjoys an outstanding reputation among HR specialists
in the region. The good working climate at Buschjost is also reflected in the length of time that members
of staff have been working at the company and in their loyalty – fluctuation of employees is virtually
unheard of at Buschjost!"
Nevertheless, there are still some challenges to be faced by Buschjost in order to secure a successful
future. The general lack of skilled manual workers in Germany has not been overlooked by the manufacturer
of solenoid valves and it is for this reason that Buschjost will be doubling its number of training
positions: "As from 2009 we will provide places for a total of 30 apprentices and trainees", explains
Lutz Missbach. "At Buschjost, we train our own skilled workers and commercial staff of the future to
very high standards; young people who then have the world at their feet in terms of development
opportunities across the Norgren Group. We will further intensify and develop our in-house vocational
training and advanced training, including key terms such as dual education system, e-learning and
leadership development. One of the future tasks to be performed by Lutz Missbach will be to make these
prospects discernible to every member of staff as clearly structured career paths in the company.
Buschjost also intends to step up its presence at the colleges and universities in the region of
East Westphalia in order to remain the company of choice in the competition for the best graduates.
"Buschjost is perceived as a high-profile, highly innovative, medium-sized enterprise from the heart of
East Westphalia. Our affiliation with the global Norgren Group frequently goes unrecognised.
This network opens up remarkable opportunities in terms of career paths. The Norgren Exchange Programme
provides talented members of staff from Buschjost with the chance of broadening their horizons at
foreign locations and of familiarising themselves with new tasks."
