Buschjost Training: Growth fuelled by own resources
Once again this year an impressive number of trainees are starting their working life at IMI Norgren
Buschjost GmbH & Co. KG. "As a company we are committed to helping remedy the current dearth of
training opportunities", says General Manager Michael Preinerstorfer. Since the beginning of August alone,
Buschjost has taken on six (four industrial and two business) new trainees.
The company has set itself the challenge of providing a continuous program in the form of apprenticeships,
work placements and undergraduate research training in a wide variety of fields. The company currently employs
24 trainees: 16 industrial, six business and two technical draughtspeople. "We recruit the next generation of
our workforce from our trainees", explains Michael Preinerstorfer. Buschjost has seen rapid positive
development over the past years. The international company is steadily growing as it continues to set new
technological standards for the industry. "Our own highly qualified trainees are indispensable in ensuring
this will remain the case in future. Experience has shown that the young people we train can very quickly
make a focused contribution to the success of the company."
It is therefore not just quantity but also quality that gives Buschjost this training edge over other
companies in the East Westphalia - Lippe region. "Over the past 15 years we have employed an annual average
of about 20 trainees", says HR Manager Thorsten Rahlmeyer. As well as citing these impressive figures, he
adds that, almost without exception, the young people who have trained at Buschjost as business specialists,
technical draughtspeople, industrial technicians, tool makers or machinists were among the best of their year,
often being awarded prizes and graduating with distinction.
During their training the trainees not only get to know everything related to the workplace and valve technology,
but can also get an idea of other areas. In the monthly training sessions the different Buschjost departmental
managers introduce their areas to ensure the trainees learn something about of the range of products, financial
administration or purchasing.
Close collaboration with the universities and technical colleges in the locality also plays an important
role in the Buschjost training concept. More than 25 dissertations have been written at Buschjost and many
of the undergraduates involved have subsequently found employment with the company.
