Specially adapted valves:
Innovation as Successful Concept
A continuous stream of innovative solutions has characterised IMI Norgren Buschjost GmbH + Co. KG's involvement
in process valve technology and systems for over 75 years. Hence the company's presence in one of the most
progressive segments at the Hanover Trade Fair: on the North Rhine-Westphalia Group Stand (Energy 2007 – Fuel
Cell Technology Network) E 60 in Hall 13, as well as appearing in conjunction with parent company Norgren,
Buschjost is presenting a wealth of solutions for the alternative fuels sector encompassing vegetable oil,
fuel cells and biogas.
Buschjost provides materials optimised for all of these products. Even the valve characteristics have been
developed for the particular application, with specially matched actuators rounding off the repertoire.
Valves are used in fuel cells to drain condensate and control reformed fuel, gas, air and water in the heating
circuits. Manufacturing these valves from stainless or plastic enables them to be used in contact with, for example,
demineralised water. The 82080 and 84520 seat valves are just two examples from the Buschjost range. Proportional
technology is used to ensure accurate control.
Stainless steel is also used for the aggressive medium of biogas. The biogas valves control the fuel gas used to
fire combined heat and power stations, and examples like the new 82660 series have to be designed for very low
pressures (like 0 to 1 bar). The low pressure range and direct actuation enabled the designers to omit control
passages. The resultant simplicity of design makes these valves robust and low maintenance in service.
The directly actuated seat valves use the dry solenoid system of the Click-on® family.
The vegetable oil valves are fitted with solenoids designed specifically to suit the voltage levels in vehicle
electrical systems. Examples in the range include the 82560 diaphragm valve for coolant applications, or the
8498763 – a 3/2 valve for switching between diesel and vegetable oil in commercial vehicles.
